We want to remind you of some community resources: 

For non-life threatening mental health support: Contra Costa Crisis Center:  call 211 or text HOPE to 20121 available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for mental health needs.   can help you reach other community resources. 

In the event of a mental health emergency, please contact 911.

California Scholarship Federation (CSF)

The spring application period for CSF started yesterday, Feb 1.  Students in grades 10-12 should apply. Seniors who have been members in the past need to apply this time! CSF rules state that one of the qualifying semesters has to be grades earned in senior year. More info here.

Seniors and Mid-year Transcripts

For all Common Application colleges, our Registrar, Ms. Finn, will automatically send mid-year transcripts by Friday, Jan 24. There is no need to request transcripts in Naviance or pay on the web store. For any non-Common Application schools that require a mid-year transcript, please notify Ms. Finn in the counseling office via email  or in person. Thank you!

Course sign-ups for 2020-2021  

We start talking about course sign-ups for next year very soon, with several events planned for students and parents:

  • Thursday, Jan 16 Frosh/Soph Parent Night (see class sections above),
  • Last two weeks of January Counselors will be in classrooms making presentations to students 
  • Thursday, Jan 30 AHS Course Preview & Open House for parents and students. See General Announcement section above. 
  • Early February Students will have a short individual appointment with their counselor to finalize course selections

Diablo Valley College Concurrent Enrollment 

Diablo Valley College spring semester starts Jan 27. Interested high school students can register for classes starting Jan 14. Students need a concurrent enrollment form signed by their counselor before registering.

Transcript requests  

The counseling office is closed during winter break and the Registrar is off-duty.  If you need transcripts sent to colleges before Jan 1, please request them before winter break. Transcripts will not be updated with first semester grades until Jan 10.

PSAT Scores

For those who participated in the PSAT/NMSQT in October, online score access will begin being emailed by the College Board on Mon, Dec 9. Emails will be sent to the address students listed on the answer document on the day of the exam. Please see Mrs. Welling in the Counseling Office with questions or after Dec 9.

Progress Reports

Progress reports  Teachers updated grades earlier this week.  Report cards have been mailed if a parent is not registered on School Loop.  This is the last progress report before the end of the semester.  

Counseling resource of the week: The Healthy Mind Platter from Dr. Dan Siegel.  It’s like the nutrition pyramid, but for mental health.

AP Exam Registration

New reg process & timing this year!  AP Exam Registration is open now through Nov. 1.  Beginning this year, students register in two places, on (with a “Join Code” from AP Teacher)  and on the Acalanes Web Store. Detailed information, including step by step instructions, is available on the Web Store and will be discussed in AP Classes. Please contact Hannah Welling, Testing Coordinator in the Counseling Office if you have questions or concerns.

First quarter progress reports

The end of the first quarter was Oct. 11.  Grades will be updated in School Loop by Wednesday Oct. 16.  Progress reports are only mailed if no parent is registered in School Loop.
