Acalanes is hosting a clothing drive with Youth Homes, a non-profit that provides services to underserved youth in the Bay Area. The drive continues through Mar 15 and you/your student can drop new or used clothes in the collection bins by the front office.
The Acalanes Community Outreach Board is holding a fundraiser for Turkey and Syria in response to the earthquakes that those countries have recently faced. There are going to be jars throughout classrooms for cash and checks and we have an online donation pagewhere students can donate. For more information about the earthquakes, check out this World Vision website.
Might your student be interested in supporting the Legally Blonde production on Mar 22-25? They can sign up here to bring pink-themed food for the Legally Blonde tailgate on Mar 22 at 6pm. Instructions are in the SignUpGenius!
Acalanes will host the Special Olympics on Friday, Apr 21. It is a wonderful event attended by schools throughout the county. We need about 100 student volunteers- if your student is interested in helping, please encourage them to come to room 314 to get a permission form and sign up for a volunteer slot. Acalanes Parents! We also need your help at the Special Olympics - please sign up to volunteer HERE!

Summer School Information: The summer school website is up and running! Please use the link to get information about summer school offerings/dates. It will be at AHS this year! Please have your student see their counselor to sign up, get forms, and figure out which classes to take.
Geometry for Advancement: AUHSD does offer one course for advancement in summer - Geometry. This is an accelerated class designed for strong Algebra students (who have an A test average) to accelerate in math. Students may be placed in Algebra 2 or Algebra 2 Advanced upon completion of this class. Please have your student see their counselor for more information. This class also requires a teacher recommendation.
Class Drop Deadline this Friday, Mar 10: This is the last day to drop a class this semester without penalty. Any classes dropped after this date will result in an automatic F in the class on the transcript.
Course Selection Changes: Please have your students bring in their completed course selection forms if they haven’t already. If your student wants to make any changes to their class requests for next year, please have them see their counselor to discuss. -

Venture with the Acalanes performers to Harvard as Elle Woods (played by Lux Downing Griggs), a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner (played by Sean McNeil). Acalanes Student Job Fair - Looking for Local Businesses
Wednesday, Mar 15 from 12:45-1:30pm in the Main Quad
Acalanes is sponsoring a student Job Fair aimed at bringing our local business partners and services onto campus to connect students with employment opportunities. If you and your business would like to participate, there is no fee for the event, however businesses must RSVP and receive approval to attend in advance.

Career Academies: Would You Like to Share Your Experience?
The Acalanes College and Career Center will host Career Academies from 10:10-11:05am during March and April and we’d like to invite interested parents, alumni, and community members to share their career experiences/pathways with our students.
At Acalanes, we encourage our students to begin investigating the great number of career options available and the many different career pathways that people take to find their chosen career. Here are the Academy dates:- Mar 22: Engineering Career Academy

- Apr 12: Alumni Academy- Young professionals who recently graduated from Acalanes sharing their pathways/experiences

Our AP students need YOUR help!
We are searching for parents to help with Proctoring AP Exams the first two weeks of May. Exam dates are May 1- May 5 and May 8 - May 12. Exams start everyday at either 8am or 12pm. Students know to show up 30 minutes prior to start time for check in. Proctors for morning exams would be needed starting at 7:15am and afternoon exams starting at 11:15am. Exams can range from 2-4 hours, please plan to stay for the longest amount of time possible. Restrictions: Parents, you are NOT allowed to proctor an exam that your own child is taking.

Wednesday during academy in the library is a dialogue & discussion on the pressure of being a female in sports. This is being led by the Female Athlete Board, club leaders and leadership.
