Here are some exciting results from our fabulous Acalanes instrumental groups from their recent participation in local events.

  • The Acalanes Wind Ensemble performed at the Sonoma Invitational Festival on March 11, where the band received high praise from their post-performance clinician Dr. Caslor from Arizona State.
  • The Acalanes Jazz Ensemble performed at Santa Cruz Jazz Festival on March 19, receiving well-deserved perfect(!!) scores from all the adjudicators. 
  • A big congratulations to our students who made Contra Costa County Honor Band: Riley Bonner, Nathan Joseph, Cole Rubener, Spencer Tantameng, Aya Watanabe, Koto Watanabe, Naoto Watanabe
  • A big congratulations to our students who made Contra Costa County Honor Jazz Band: Riley Bonner, Tommy Gallagher, Spencer Tantameng

Acalanes Performing Arts Booster Scholarship

APAB will award one $1,000 scholarship to a Senior in the Acalanes Class of 2022 who participates in either Choral Music, Drama or Instrumental Music with an intent to major or minor in a performing arts at a two or four-year college, university, or performing arts school. Performing Arts

Lafayette District Band Festival Monday, Mar 21 through Wednesday, Mar 23 at 7pm in the Stanley Middle School Gym. Free admission. 
Come listen to the amazing Acalanes Instrumental Bands and Orchestra as they play beautiful arrangements alongside the talented musicians from Stanley Middle School. It is an excellent celebration of music through the grades!

Two New VAPA Courses

There are two new options in the course catalogue for the 2020-2021 school year:

  • Voice Experimental Lab For those that want to discover their voices. Students learn healthy vocal technique, then choose the songs they want to learn in a masterclass format. 
  • Survey of Popular Music Students learn about the roots of American popular music and how it evolved from the late 19th century to today. It covers how Pop music influenced and responded to society and the ever changing aesthetics of our culture. 

Both classes are open to grades 9 through 12.  FAQ’s sheets are available in the Counseling office or you can email Mr. Lengacher.

Dec 12, 2019 Winter Choral Concert

Please join us for the 2019 Winter Choral Concert, “Winter Around the World” on Dec 18 at 7pm in the PAC at Acalanes. Come hear the Choirs, a cappella groups, solo acts and special guests, The Nothing But Treble Choir. Seat reservation information will be added the first week in December. Don’t miss this great way to kick off the Holiday Season!

Acalanes Jazz Ensemble Fall Concert: 11/14

Acalanes Jazz Ensemble Fall Concert  Acalanes High School’s Jazz Ensemble, along with the Stanley Jazz Messengers, will be performing in the Acalanes Performing Arts Center (PAC) on Nov 14 at 7 pm.  Attendance is free so come by to enjoy some swingin’ tunes from our renowned musicians!
