Acalanes Performing Arts Booster Scholarship Available

The Acalanes Performing Arts Boosters are proud to announce its $1,000 scholarship available to a graduating senior who has demonstrated passion and commitment to the Performing Arts at AHS and who intends to pursue a major or minor college degree in the Performing Art. Two New VAPA Courses

There are two new options in the course catalogue for the 2020-2021 school year:

  • Voice Experimental Lab For those that want to discover their voices. Students learn healthy vocal technique, then choose the songs they want to learn in a masterclass format. 
  • Survey of Popular Music Students learn about the roots of American popular music and how it evolved from the late 19th century to today. It covers how Pop music influenced and responded to society and the ever changing aesthetics of our culture. 

Both classes are open to grades 9 through 12.  FAQ’s sheets are available in the Counseling office or you can email Mr. Lengacher.

Dec 12, 2019 Winter Choral Concert

Please join us for the 2019 Winter Choral Concert, “Winter Around the World” on Dec 18 at 7pm in the PAC at Acalanes. Come hear the Choirs, a cappella groups, solo acts and special guests, The Nothing But Treble Choir. Seat reservation information will be added the first week in December. Drama Dons In Action! The LARAMIE PROJECT

October 23-26 at 7pm in the Acalanes Little Theater 

Don’t miss the DramaDons production of The Laramie Project, the true story of Matthew Shephard who was savagely beaten and left to die in Laramie, Wyoming.  Shephard’s name quickly became a grim rallying cry for those speaking out against hate crimes committed against gays. The Laramie Project explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable.  A more detailed synopsis of the play as well as information on tickets can be found here

United States Marine Band Performance at Acalanes

The Acalanes Instrumental Music Program is honored to host an open concert on Wednesday, October 16 at 7:30pm in the gym, featuring The United States Marine Band.

The last time this band toured in California was ten years ago.Their appearance in Lafayette is the ONLY performance in the immediate Bay Area. This is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in our Lamorinda community! The United States Marine band is the country’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. Established in 1798, this band made its White House debut over 200 years ago. It performs at state dinners, White House and other events of national significance.

Tickets are free, with a four-ticket limit per request. Tickets will be available starting September 18. Click on the following link for the ticketing site here. Please note, no bags or backpacks will be allowed in the gym at the performance.
