COVID: Please call in your student’s absence to the Attendance Recorder and continue to follow the district’s Covid guidance. The school is not notifying teachers, so students should access Canvas as much as possible and stay in contact with their teachers to communicate their remote progress in their classes.

Please see my website for more information on medications, health issues, forms, etc.

Healthy Snack Recipe:  Smokey Red Lentil Hummus which is a variation on the typical hummus made with chickpeas. Lentils are a nutritious powerhouse! Serve with fresh veggies/crudites, whole wheat pita chips, and/or GF crackers.

Congratulations to our Senior class and families!  We are so proud of you all and wish you much success, happiness and wellness as you launch into the greater community and world! Suggestion to college-bound students- when you get on campus, find and visit the Student Health Center. You will find they have a wealth of programs and resources. Make plans to get your fall flu shot there so you know where it is.

COVID- All I’m going to say right now is that you can order 8 more Covid tests here.

I hope everyone has a happy and healthy summer.  I’m going to continue to encourage you to eat healthy and be active. Here is a great video on Summertime plant-based eating. No matter how you eat, it’s important for EVERYONE to include LOTS of fruits and vegetables. I hope you find the video inspiring to create and prepare great meals (adapt to your needs) with your family.

Please be in touch with me to discuss any medical, health, or wellness concerns.
Stay healthy and be well,

Is it too early to start supporting students for FINALS? Just a reminder that parents can help support their students by:

  • Encouraging sufficient sleep. Help support your students prioritizing getting at least 8-10 hours of sleep per night.
  • Optimal Nutrition. Provide an abundance and variety of “nutrient-dense” food choices, meals and snacks.
  • Positive emotional connection. Build in regular (even if brief) opportunities to connect together as a family (without “checking in”/evaluating how school academics are going).
  • Physical activity. Encourage healthy opportunities for physical activity and fresh air.
  • Support them in having a dedicated study space that has minimal distractions and is decluttered.

COVID-19 Information:

  • New Masking Mandate – As of Saturday, Mar 12, the state masking mandate has transitioned from “required” to “strongly recommended”. While masks will no longer be required,  “masks remain one of the most effective and simplest safety mitigation layers to prevent transmission of COVID-19 infections” (CDPH). Masks will still be available to those who need or want one. Students who return after Day 5 of Covid infection must mask through Day 10.
  • Remain alert to COVID symptoms, continue to report COVID+ cases to us (especially Attendance) and keep your students home when they are ill.
  • COVID Isolation, Quarantines and Test Kits – The current guidelines for return to school after COVID illness require a negative COVID test (if returning before 10 days). Please see Principal Shawn’s COVID FAQs for more details. We continue to update policy based on the County Health Department guidance.

Please be in touch with me to discuss any medical, health, or wellness concerns.

Parenting Teens in Uncertain Times Monday, April 25 to Wednesday, May 4. This is a 10-day free summit for parents, caregivers and anyone who wants to create a better future for our teens.

April is Alcohol Responsibility Month. To be quite honest, I rarely see much attention paid to Under-age Drinking these days. This is an important topic to discuss regularly with our adolescents and we need to remember that it is dangerous to normalize any unhealthy behavior. Please see resources at responsibility.org for more information.
