Lafayette Community Survey Results
Earlier this year, more than 500 families responded to LPIE’s Community Survey—thank you for your time, honesty, and insights.
What You Told Us: Many families want more clarity on school funding and the need for donations—especially in a public school context. Some were surprised to learn that both Lafayette and Acalanes Union High School Districts are operating at budget deficits, and that schools heavily rely on local support through LPIE and parcel taxes—not just property taxes or rent. You also shared personal barriers to giving. Some weren’t sure smaller gifts matter (they do!) and asked for more transparency around how funds are used. We hear you!
What Hasn’t Changed: Every gift matters. While we agree public education shouldn’t rely on private funding, it currently does—and we’re deeply grateful to every family who chooses to invest in our students.

And of course, we extend our sincere appreciation to Project LPIE Co-Chairs Jocelyn Werner & Lori MacLeod for leading us through the 12th year of this competition! Without you, this simply would not have been possible.
To everyone who attended our Student Showcase & Awards Reception last week, thank you for coming! We were proud to showcase every piece submitted to Project LPIE and to take the opportunity to celebrate the talent and community spirit that make Project LPIE such a meaningful experience each year. We look forward to seeing you there!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the 7th Annual LPIE Gala! Whether you attended, bid in the auction, volunteered, or supported from afar—we are truly grateful for your generosity and dedication to our schools. Your support helps fund vital programs in science, art, music, world languages, expanded elective and AP classes, and more, ensuring every Lafayette student receives an exceptional public education.
We were also proud to present the Tom Mulvaney Legacy Award to Meredith Meade in recognition of her outstanding service and unwavering commitment to LPIE and our community. Meredith has been a steadfast champion of education—a two-term LPIE president and longtime member of the Lafayette School District Governing Board. Acalanes Student Art Exhibition at the Lafayette Library
Lafayette Partners in Education (LPIE) is thrilled to showcase a special art installation created by the talented students of Acalanes High School! This collaborative project is a testament to their creativity, vision, and artistic expression, bringing a fresh and inspiring addition to our community space.
A heartfelt thank you to Acalanes art teacher Robert Porter for his dedication to fostering student creativity and for guiding this project with such passion and expertise. We also deeply appreciate our LPIE board members, Siena Naaman and Ivana Pignatelli, for their leadership and hard work in bringing this showcase to life, ensuring that these incredible student pieces are beautifully displayed for the community to enjoy. We are incredibly grateful for the collaboration between the Lafayette Public Art Commission and LPIE, which has made this meaningful exhibition possible.
The student artwork will be on display throughout March and April, and we invite everyone to stop by and appreciate the incredible talent of our young artists.
We hope you’ll take a moment to visit the Lafayette Library and celebrate the artistic achievements of our students!
