It’s Earth Week! Monday, Apr 18 through Friday, Apr 22. We have fun, environmentally-based events everyday so make sure to participate! Below is an overview of everything that is happening during the week. Go DONS!
 
Monday

  • Enviro Jeopardy at lunch in room 314
  • Dress Up Arctic- wear coats, gloves, beanies, and white/ blue
  • Sneaker drive starts. Drop off used sneakers in the front quad before school

Tuesday

  • Garden Club Event at lunch in TBD
  • Dress Up Desert- wear hats, sunglasses, orange/ yellow/ tan

Wednesday

  • Bring a Reusable Water Bottle to lunch in all quads
  • Recycle Smart Enviro Council at Academy in room 314
  • Dress up Mountain- bucket hats, cargo pants, green/ brown/ grey

Thursday

  • Succulent Planting at lunch in Front Quad
  • Dress Up Jungle- Animal print, camo, green

Friday

  • Costa Sunglasses Presentation at Academy in room 314
  • Dressup Ocean/beach- flip flops, Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses, tropical print, blue/ yellow

Saturday

  • Tree-Plenish Planting Event at 9am to 12pm on campus. If you ordered a sapling, please come pick it up.

Sneaker Drive this week Monday, Apr 18 to Friday, Apr 22 in the Front Quad. Drop off your used shoes before school everyday during the week. The shoes will be recycled and used to help environmental initiatives.
 
Acalanes High school is hosting the Special Olympics on Friday, April 22nd from 10 am to 1pm. Come out to the track to support the community and cheer on different schools!

  • Tickets are live on the webstore
  • In order to get a bus assignment, students need to show their webstore receipt & permission form. Permission forms can be found on the webstore and on the door of room 314.
  • Tickets are $85 for current 11th and 12th graders; $125 for outside guests and current 9th/10th graders.
  • Ticket price includes transportation to/from the event, buffet dinner, dancing, karaoke, silent disco, games & photo booth.

Run 1.5 miles through the Acalanes campus with white t-shirts to wear through five color stations where participants will emerge in a rainbow of colors by the end of the run. Open to ALL students in the community. Click here for tickets. Register todayas there are limited spots available! 

Tree Planting Event
Next month, Acalanes will be hosting a sapling planting event as part of Earth Week. We are working with Tree-Plenish, which is a non-profit organization that works with high schools to help offset the amount of paper used during the school year by planting saplings. Buy your own sapling here for the low price of $10 before Wednesday, March 23. There are a variety of trees to choose from and contributions go towards helping plant more trees to make communities greener.

“I don’t want a Black History Month. Black history is American history.” – Morgan Freeman. We encourage our community to learn about the heritage and achievements of African Americans through appropriate programs and activities that reflect the Black Excellence Month theme for 2022.

Tuesday, Feb 22 through Friday, Feb 25 CARE Week at Acalanes Each year, students plan & execute CARE Week. CARE Week includes lunchtime activities & dialogues along with student created & student led workshops during academy. The academy sessions will take a look at identity & begin to dialogue about privilege.

Tuesday, Feb 22 at Lunch Asian Student Union hosts a dialogue on the Model Minority Myth in room 314.
 
Wednesday, Feb 23 at Lunch Jewish Student Union Hosts a challah bake/anti-Semitism talk in room 411.
