Sunday, Mar 27 at 9am is the 3rd annual Color Run Fundraiser to support 2023 and 2024 classes. 1.5 mile run through the Acalanes campus with white t-shirts to wear through five color stations where participants will emerge in a rainbow of colors by the end of the run.   • Dress-up Rainbow Day, Environmental Kahoot in room 314 at Lunch

  • Dress-up with Flower Power (70’s wear), flowers for sale in the front quad at Lunch
• Wednesday
  • Dress-up in Class Colors (Seniors wear black, Juniors wear gray, Sophomores wear blue and Freshmen wear white), Mock Rock (class lip sync battle), food & music on the field at Lunch

  • Dress-up with Crazy Sunglasses, Otter pops in the back quad at Lunch

Tuesday, Feb 22 through Friday, Feb 25 CARE Week at Acalanes Each year, students plan & execute CARE Week. CARE Week includes lunchtime activities & dialogues along with student created & student led workshops during academy. The academy sessions will take a look at identity & begin to dialogue about privilege.

Tuesday, Feb 22 at Lunch Asian Student Union hosts a dialogue on the Model Minority Myth in room 314.
 
Wednesday, Feb 23 at Lunch Jewish Student Union Hosts a challah bake/anti-Semitism talk in room 411.
 
Friday, Feb 25 at Lunch Latinos Unidos & Black Student Union Highlight Afro-Latinos in room 507 and Queer Student Alliance Hosts a Kahoot and then open dialogue in room 425.

Student Government/Leadership applications for the 2022-2023 school year are due tomorrow, Monday, Feb 7! They are now available and all current 8, 9, 10, and 11th graders are encouraged to apply. Applications can be found on canvas or the Acalanesleadership website. Students can opt in to run to be a class officer and represent their class or join one of 16 committees. Student Government/Leadership is a wonderful opportunity to serve campus & community while building “soft skills” that will be used in the future.

Black History Month is a month-long celebration of Black excellence, culture & history. Students have worked really hard to put together a month of programming and information. We are encouraging our entire community to opt in to at least one event. Check out themonth–long calendar & opt in!

Visit acalanesblueprint.com to access Blueprint’s latest issue via PDF. Enjoy well researched stories with a local angle thanks to Acalanes’ talented student journalists. Additionally, Blueprint will launch a new literary magazine, The Azure, on May 8 featuring entries from Project LPIE and our school community.

As a campus, we are lucky to be bringing back Breaking Down the Walls for all 10th and 11th graders. It is a wonderful program funded by APC for students to build relationships with one another, break down barriers between them and truly start to understand each other. Feedback from last year was extremely positive. All 10th and 11th graders are participating and the alpha breakdown is as follows:

• Wednesday, Jan 22: Last Names A-Go
• Thursday, Jan 23: Last Names Gr-O
• Friday, Jan 24: Last Names P-Z

 Join us at Sideboard in Lafayette at 6pm for our biannual Open Mic Night. Come out, eat dinner, and enjoy student talent (we have over 15 performers scheduled). This is one of our favorite nights of the year!

In an effort to better communicate with students and the community on big events each month, we have created a Dons Show Up calendar (on the homepage of the Acalanes website). As a community, you can feel the support for one another on campus. Thank you for showing up!
