Alpha Change for the Fall: With the decrease in counseling services voted on by the board recently, our alpha will be redistributed in the fall. Erika Vasquez will reduce her caseload here, and Anne, Marissa and Susan will absorb about 140 of her students.  Erika will be at AHS on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays next year, and Tuesdays and Fridays at Miramonte. She will be accessible by email, virtual meetings, and phone (just two different numbers). 
 
Summer School: Summer School begins Tuesday, Jun 11 and ends on Friday, Jul 12. Please check here for more information. Any required classes with grades of D/F may be repeated in summer school for a better grade.
 
Counselors will return to work at the beginning of August – have a wonderful summer! Congratulations to the Class of 2024!

Counselor Alpha Change Coming in the Fall
This spring the AUHSD School Board voted to reduce the staffing in the Counseling Department at Acalanes from 4.0 full-time counselors to 3.6. Erika Vasquez will now only be in the office 3 days a week, so her caseload will be redistributed to the other counselors in August.
 
Summer School
Counselors are signing students up for summer school – it’s at Acalanes this year! If your student has a D or F in a required course, please send them to see their counselor to sign up!  Please see HERE for more information.

Students may still ask to change their course requests for next school year. Counselors are keeping a wish list of student requests and will fill these requests as we are able.

Counselors are monitoring seniors in danger of not graduating – letters from the Associate Principal will be sent home in late March.

 Athletic eligibility will be determined this week – using 3rd quarter grades. Students need a 2.0 average or higher to remain eligible for their sports.

3rd Quarter Ends on Friday, Mar 15
This is the last week of Q3! Friday, Mar 15 is the drop deadline as well – if students want to drop a class, they may do so until that date. After that, any drop will be an automatic F on the transcript. This deadline is also the cut off for continued athletic eligibility for all spring sports. Students need a 2.0 average or higher to remain eligible for their sports. 3rd quarter grades will be used for this purpose.

The CSF application period is open! CSF (California Scholarship Federation) is an honor society. Current 10th, 11th and 12th graders are encouraged to apply. A complete CSF application has 2 parts – an application form and a payment on the webstore. Forms can be turned into the counseling office. The deadline is this Thursday, Feb 29 for both the form and the payment! Students who are members for at least 4 semesters, including during senior year, will get a special stole to wear at graduation. Read the FAQ on the application form and contact  Ms. Schonauer for any clarification.
