THANK YOUR APC CLASS LIAISONS!
Do you know your Class Liaisons? If not, get to know this dedicated team of parent volunteers.
The Liaisons serve as the primary link between parents, the Associated Student Body (ASB) Class Officers and the AHS Leadership class. They work closely with the elected class officers to raise money and plan events from Freshman through Senior years. These hard working teams can be seen staffing the snack shack, planning the parent parties, and assisting with HOCO, Prom, Grad Night and so much more. They share weekly class updates in our APC newsletter (see APC Class Updates below). Please read their sections carefully and sign up help!
Next time you see your Class Liaison, please thank them for all they do for our students and the Acalanes community.
Co-Head Liaisons: Sarah Cusumano and Heidi Keely
Class of 2024: Claire Gallacher, Beth Goldberg, Becki Hanson, Joy Martin, Amy Parlett

PEER TUTORING: Off to a Great Start this year!
Our first seminar, Note-Taking 101, was at full capacity on Wednesday. The presentation, given by one of our highly organized and exceptional Peer Tutors, offered insights into the different methods of note-taking, how and why those methods work for different learning styles, and how to use those notes to study. Stay tuned for future great programming offered by Peer Tutoring!
With 25 talented tutors staffing shifts at lunch, Academy, 7th Period, and after school, academic help is always available to Acalanes students. Peer Tutoring is open on a drop-in basis and always completely free. Acalanes is uniquely able to offer Peer Tutoring at such a high level solely because of funding from the Acalanes Parents Club. Your donations to APC allow us to offer more programming and services to your students. Thank you!

ACALANES COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS
Welcome back Dons! The 2023-24 volunteer program year is in full swing for the Acalanes and President’s Service Awards so please make sure your students are logging those hours! It’s a great opportunity for students to give back AND be recognized for their service. THREE IMPORTANT CHANGES to note this year:
- We’ve transitioned to an app-based system, called Helper Helper, for reporting and validating hours. (That means no more paper forms and no more waiting until the end of the year to submit your hours. Yay!)
- The Acalanes Service Award now requires a minimum of 30 hours to qualify (back to the pre-COVID original hours requirement).
- We have NEW instruction guidelines on what hours qualify as community service hours, which hopefully resolves a lot of past questions.
Please check out the Volunteer Service Opportunities page for instructions on how to get started in the app and to view the new instructions and guidelines. All applications are due by Friday, Apr 19, 2024 so please make sure your students are logging those hours in the Helper Helper app now! Email communityservice@acalanesparentsclub.com with any questions.
And if your child hasn’t picked up their AHS or Presidential Service Award from last year, please have them do so at the Counseling Office as soon as possible.
