SENIOR CAR RALLY
Thank you so much to Linda Choi, Mendy Gonzalez, and all the volunteers for leading the planning of Friday’s car rally! Such a fun event for our graduating seniors and we appreciate all of their work to make it happen!

AHS SUMMER GARDEN PLANS
We plan to be in the AHS garden on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30pm during the weeks of Jun 11, 18, 25; Jul 16, 23, 30; and Aug 6. We will be working on weeding and hopefully, later in the summer, harvesting. If you’d like to come and help, please take a moment to sign up here.

When we start to harvest we hope to have enough to share with our extended AHS family – staff and families. Please sign up on this form if you are interested in being notified about picking up produce. Keep in mind that pick up times will be during our work parties and we may not be able to give you much notice! Alternatively, you can just stop by on a Tuesday evening to check in, hang out, and see what is growing. We will be mulching for weeds when we return in August so we’ll need cardboard again. If you are able to donate, please remove all tape and labels. It can be dropped off in room 201 before school is out or in the hallway outside the farm (in front of the autoshop classroom door) after that.

Thanks for all of your support! If you have any questions, please reach out – LTewksbury@auhsdschools.org. Have a great summer!

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI)

To Celebrate in May/June:

  • Mental Health Awareness Month
  • Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
  • Jewish American Heritage Month
  • Pride Month

June celebrates PRIDE and there are several resources to dig into on the AUHSD DEIB website including PFLAG. We have a local chapter in our own community and if you are in need of support, allyship or just a sense of belonging you can find them here. Our school also has a QSA club and AUHSD just recognized June as LGBTQIA+ Pride month in our district.

As we approach the end of the year we want to remind parents that inclusivity and belonging begin at home, and we hope your summer will be full of fun times with family and friends. Our community has worked hard to highlight different cultures, religions and genders throughout the school year and APC is grateful for their efforts and those of AUHSD.

JOIN the DEIB Committee NOW for Next Year
Our ‘24/’25 planning is underway. Please share any thoughts or ideas you have with us here. This is a collaborative process; we encourage participation. It is important that a plethora of voices and ideas are heard. We are also looking for members of our community that would like to be more involved. Time commitment and involvement is up to you but the more you do, the bigger impact you will have on our Acalanes community.

Please check out the new AUHSD DEIB website for many great resources and events! And follow us on Instagram and Facebook.

Student Activities

With one week left, it is hard to put into words what the 2023-2024 school year represents. Overall, it was a wonderful year with so many moments and events that will move into long term memories. One thing is for sure – a successful school year does not happen without the support and volunteerism of many. Here are just a few:

  • Thank you to our entire community for all the times you OPTED IN – whether that was volunteering in the snack shack, at homecoming or in bringing items for class specific events. THANK YOU!
  • Thank you to our entire community for all the times you SHOWED UP – whether that was in athletics, performing arts, our clubs or in our community. THANK YOU!
  • Thank you to our team of parent liaisons – you are a powerhouse team of 20 who spend countless hours fundraising  and planning with our class officers. I am lucky to spend time with you, learn from you, and work with you.
  • Thank you to APC & LPIE for your support of all things Acalanes! Specifically, thank you to Kelly Daggs, the communications team, the community service team, the DEIB team and all of the chairs of specific events. It takes us all to make great things happen!
  • Thank you to our club advisors – they open their classrooms during lunch and allow our students to pursue areas of interest and passion and are giving of their own time.
  • Lastly, thank you to our amazing students! You are a big reason why our community is simply incredible. A special thank you to the 86 in leadership this year – you make my role here a dream come true and you have worked endlessly hard to make the hundreds of events happen. THANK YOU!

Wellness Center

As we wrap up the 23-24 school year, the Wellness team hopes everyone has a restorative and restful summer break. This year we had the privilege of serving over 200 hundred unique students with over 2150 visits. We love supporting students and look forward to doing the same next year! Below is a list of summer resources for those seeking connection or mental health support while we are away from school. Friendly reminder, Wellness team emails will be closed over the summer and we will not see any referrals until we return to school in August.

It’s sad to see our seniors go but we’re so proud of the work they’ve put in to move on to bigger and better things. Congrats to them and we look forward to seeing returning students and incoming freshmen for the 24-25 school year! Cheers to a great summer!
