Counseling Office Information

Course Selections:

Signups for next year's classes will be online this year. Signups will begin during the first week of the new semester. Counselors will give presentaions in the Freshmen, Sophomore and Junior classes. We will return to the classes the following week to answer any questions and collect the students' course request forms. Course requests must be submitted online during the following windows:

  • Freshmen: Jan 24 - Jan 31
  • Sophomores: Jan 26 - Feb 2
  • Juniors: Jan 27 - Feb 3

Signups will be at https://pass.acalanes.k12.ca.us. Log in using your student's Blackboard username and password.

*Course descriptions are in the catalog, availabe on the Acalanes District website - HERE    Course request forms may be downloaded from the counseling office website if your student misplaces his/her form.

During February and early March, counselors will meet individually with all Juniors to review course choices for their Senior year, graduation status and post highschool plans. Final deecisions on course requests must be made by the end of March!

Sophomores - Important Dates!

On the mornings of Feb 7 and 8, we will be adminstering the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE). Passing both the Language Arts and Math sections of the CAHSEE is a requirement fo rhigh school graduation.
ALL SOPHOMORES ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE CAHSEE THIS FEBRUARY. THE TEST WILL START AT THE BEGINNING OF FIRST PERIOD EACH DAY 8:00 ON TUES AND 8:35 ON WED).

Seniors - Reminder 

If you applied to a private college, you may need to send a Mid-Year Report. Check your college requirements and submit a new printout of your Transcript Status Page with $3.00 per transcript to Mrs. Finn in the Counseling Office. Mid-Year Reports will be sent as soon as 1st semester grades are available.

Peer Tutoring: 

Encourage your students to take advantage of the extra help available at Acalanes in our Peer Tutoring Center. Peer tutoring is available on a drop-in basis daily at lunch, during 7th period, and after school until 4:00pm. Highly qualified junior and senior students work under the supervision of Peer Tutoring coordinators Fran Taylor and Mary McCosker. Letters of Recommendation: 

Most private colleges require letters of recommendation from one or two teachers and from a counselor (also called the Secondary School Report). Students should request letters from their teachers well in advance of their application deadlines. Students who will need a letter of recommendation from their counselor are required to complete the Student Statement, Parent Statement, and Resume on Naviance Family Connection by November 1st for Regular Applications.

Transcripts: 

Transcript orders for college applications should also be completed as soon as possible. To request a transcript:

  • 1. Request all transcripts through Naviance Family Connection
  • 2. Print out the Transcript Status page
  • 3. Bring the following to the Counseling Office:

          * Transcript Status page
          * $3.00 per transcript
